Have you ever been without words of your own?
That’s where I found myself this morning. No words to share with God in my quiet time. Even as I’m asking Him what’s my topic and looking at the clock, still no words to share.
My friend shared a devotion that ended in prayer, and I found myself copying the prayer in my journal. Somehow, it was saying what my own mind could not come up with as I was spending time quietly.
I thought of Friday evening when I found out some sad news. I was beyond words of my own, so I called my spiritual mom and asked her to pray. She prayed with me on the phone, and as she prayed, the tears flowed freely. She was saying everything that needed to be said, that I simply did not have the words to say.
Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation? You are going through something and the words simply won’t come. Can I encourage you to surround yourself with others who will lift you up in prayer?
I think of one example in the Bible. Moses and the Israelites were in battle, and he needed to hold his hand up with his staff. Every time he would lower his hand, they would start losing the battle. Aaron and Hur, took stones and sat on either side of Moses to hold up his hands. The battle was won.
Who do you have holding up your hand as you go through your battles? Who do you have lifting you up in prayer?
I encourage you to ask God for wisdom and discernment to seek those who will continue to lift you up in difficult circumstances.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this powerful reminder. Father, would you reveal to us who we should surround ourselves with to lift us up in our time of need? And Father, would you please teach us how to lift others up as well?
