Will you say ‘yes’?

Yesterday I presented a workshop at my church’s conference wide training for Treasurers, Clerks and Stewardship.

If you told me last year when I attended that a year later, I would be one of the presenters, with even my picture and bio in the program, I almost definitely wouldn’t believe you.
But God…
As I look back over some of the things that have happened in the course of the last year or so, I’m amazed and humbled.
As our church was nominating for positions at the end of 2018, my friend and church colleague called telling me that I had been nominated for a combined role of Finance Chair and Stewardship. My initial thought and response was ‘nope, I’m too busy’. He shared that he would be on my team, and asked me to pray about my decision. I VERY reluctantly told him I would pray, but knowing my response was ‘no’.
Very shortly after praying, I received the nudge, ‘you say you want to make a change, but you’re being given the opportunity and you’re saying no.’
God, do I really have to?
I reluctantly went ahead and accepted the roles. Within a matter of weeks, I met one of the Pastors, who would answer prayers that I didn’t even know I had actually prayed, but God saw fit to answer.
I look back and see how God has worked with my simple ‘yes’, opening doors that I couldn’t have imagined.
What is God asking of you, and you keep saying no, but keep expecting Him to open doors for you? Sometimes to be able to get to some doors, you have to be willing to walk through some doors that look like nothing you expected.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the wisdom to say ‘yes’.. even when I didn’t want to. Thank you for showing up when we show ourselves faithful in the little things, and accepting the promises that when we are faithful with the little, you can provide much to us.
