When You Think You’ve Been Forgotten

Someone reached out to me earlier this year to do an interview for their organization that was geared towards young girls. As a mom to a daughter, and generally a lover of little kids, once I confirmed that it was legit, my answer was a resounding yes.

As we neared the process of finishing the interview, she said something that has stayed in the back of my mind. She shared that even after the interview was done, it would be a long time until I saw the end product, I might even have forgotten that I had done it.

As I got home yesterday, I thought about two recordings I had done earlier this year. The one I just mentioned, which was recorded on Meets and the other, where the organization flew me to their studio for the recording and then I flew back home. Somehow I mentioned them to my daughter and was telling her that I likely will never see the recording of the one I did in studio. I had been compensated for my time, and they would use the material as they saw fit. But, I thought of the other one that I had not heard back from and wondered whatever happened to it.

As I laid in bed this morning, asking God what was to be my topic, I had no idea. I had some thoughts, but always want clarification on what to share. I got up and checked my messages and lo and behold, there was a message from the person I had thought about just yesterday with a copy of the video.

I want to say it is the sweetest edit of a video I’ve ever been in. There’s animation, and edited in such a way as to resonate with little girls, and yet, the substance of our conversation was still there.

I had not been forgotten.  The detailed work had been happening behind the scenes.

Similarly, yesterday, my pastor preached on a passage of scripture from Acts 2, referencing the story of Moses. Moses had been called to an assignment, but then he handled it in the way he thought (paraphrasing) and ended up in the wilderness for 40 years. Even as he traversed the wilderness, he might have thought the assignment no longer applied and God had forgotten about him. BUT… at the right time, God gave him a call back! He was sent to fulfill his assignment of being the leader of the Israelites.

Friends, do you feel like you’ve gotten the assignment, but now you don’t see the results and you feel that you’ve been forgotten?

I’m here to remind you that you have not been forgotten, no matter what the current situation looks like. Keep pressing forward in your assignment. At just the right time you will reap a reward if you do not give up.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you that I can trust you, no matter what life looks like in the moment. I thank you that you are working for the good of those who love you and are called according to your purpose. Please remind us that we are not forgotten.
