You ever wonder what purpose some animals or insects serve?
My daughter and I spent our last vacation cruising on the high seas. The particular ship we sailed was affiliated with Guy Harvey, a marine biologist. He designed the hull of the ship, and he even had his own tv channel on the ship. My daughter was fascinated with this channel as it showed the under water life. Many of the documentaries focused on sharks and ways we can save and protect them.
While I’m fascinated by what lays beneath the surface, I know that the ocean, and what’s in it is not to be messed with – especially sharks.
After watching many of the documentaries, it seemed that every fish or animal had a purpose in the circle of life – even the corals have a very important purpose. If you’re wondering what’s the sharks’ purpose, you and I are in the same boat. While they seem to have a bad reputation, Guy Harvey believes they are not what we think, and has set up foundations to protect not just the sharks, but other under water life. There was even a slogan: ‘healthy oceans need sharks’.
Did you know they really do each serve a different purpose? Each fish, each plankton, each whale, each shark – each serve their unique purpose.
This got me thinking… am I living out my purpose? Do I even know what my purpose is? What would you consider to be your purpose?
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that even before you created us, you had a purpose in mind. Father, sometimes we forget that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and created as unique beings – no one will ever be able to do the job that you have called us to. Help us to seek you as we seek to fulfill the purpose for which you have called us.
