I think often times when we think of ministry – we think of our pastors or those who preach to large congregations and say we could never do that.
Did you know that your ministry could be reaching out to one person at a time?
I am finding out that that’s how God has chosen to use me. One person at a time. Sometimes I want to get frustrated because I think my blog followers should be bigger by now. Sometimes I wonder if I’m even making a difference. Sometimes I wonder if I will have the next topic to write about.
But God steps in.
In my moments of wondering and sometimes completely out of the blue, He partners me with just one person. And I am able to have such intimate conversations with strangers that leave both of us in awe of God’s goodness and how much He cares about every detail of our lives.
I’ve been left humbled, speechless and in tears at some of these conversations.
What have you been hesitant to do that God has been prompting you to start?
Our ministry may never reach hundreds or thousands. It may never even be in the tens. But when you are obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit – the one life you touch can start a ripple effect – which can go on to reach many others. I’ll share with you that is how it started in mine. One person suggested that I should be writing a blog even though I had no interest or even how to do it. I’ve learned that it will not be about the # of followers I have. I’ve learned that it will be about the one heart I will touch because the Holy Spirit planted a seed.
By the way – my job is only to be obedient and to plant that seed. It’s God’s job to water it and allow it to grow.
I’ll ask you again – what has God laid on your heart that you should be doing that you have been hesitant about? Stop delaying.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the ministries that keep us humble and keep us seeking your will for our lives. Lord, sometimes we are reluctant to start something because we don’t think we are qualified – in those moments, please remind us that our instructions are not about us. Teach us that all we have to do is be faithful to what you are asking of us and you will do the rest.
