Weary Traveler

This is the title of a song that has been on my heart recently. It’s sung by Jordan St. Cyr, and one I had chosen to use as a part of my church program.

The verse of the song that keeps coming to mind is ‘Weary traveler, restless soul.. you were never meant to walk this road alone..It’ll all be worth it, so just hold on.. Weary traveler, you won’t be weary long’

I don’t know about you, but these words have been comforting to my weary heart.

Then I woke up yesterday to the Bible verse of the day found in Jeremiah 31:25 ‘I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint’.

And as if that wasn’t enough, I was flipping through my Bible on my way to a verse on Isaiah and stumbled across some verses that are bracketed because it was too much to highlight. It’s one of my favorite scriptures, and as I paused to read it, I smiled a bit more.

Isaiah 41:28 – 31 states ‘Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow  tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.’

Can you see why I was smiling?

In those short four verses, the word weary was mentioned four times, and is such a comforting promise of what happens when we hope in the Lord.

Are you tired and weary? A gentle reminder.. ‘you were never meant to walk this road alone’.. Are you trying to walk it in your own strength?

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the reminders and promises of how close you draw to us. Help us to be reminded that you are right here with us and we can cling to you for our strength and we do not need to be weary by the cares of this world.
