I had been tasked for church to do a segment I had done many times before. I sometimes share something educational or use a devotional from the Bible app.
This time, my call felt very differently.
I felt as if I was to tell my personal financial story. At least, mostly personal in the general way that I share most topics.
Whenever I feel the need to step out a little farther, I usually want to check in with my spiritual mom to make sure I’m doing the right thing. This particular morning, I was reminded that if I’m being called to do something, I do not need approval or affirmation. Instead of sharing what I’d written for approval, I asked her to pray for me. Sometimes we need courage to do what we’ve been called to do. I know she did pray, as well as affirmed me in her own sweet way.
Last week as we ended the year and was embarking on the new year, I was charged with the testimony segment. As I went from person to person, giving them an opportunity to share – I was elated by how we were all encouraged as others shared their trials, their triumphs or just the overall goodness of God.
Sometimes when we see and hear what God has done for others, it reminds us that God can do the same for us – and we can overcome whatever situation we are walking through.
And, as I remain a private person, not everything needs to be shared all the time. Sometimes we should simply treasure these things in our hearts (see post from a few weeks ago). It’s wise to wait until God tells us it’s time to share some things publicly.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your instruction and your leading of when it’s time to do certain things. Thank you that there is a time to speak up and a time to be silent. Help us to know when we are called to do which. Thank you for the opportunity to share this testimony that was five years in the making, because you knew the time was right.
