Wait on the Lord

As I started contemplating what today’s message would be, some thoughts started to form. It started centering around ‘waiting on the Lord’.. If you know me, I often debate with the Lord as to whether that should actually be the topic. But alas, here I am.

Depending on the moment, you will hear me say that is one of my favorite verses. And in the next moment, it might be something completely different. I guess it may be because I have a favorite verse for many of life‘s circumstances and the instructions that I believe I have received over the years.

So I will say this is one of my favorite verses, parenthetically for today, or at least this moment.

Psalm 27:13-14 states ‘I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.’

As I was contemplating the topic, I opened my Bible app devotion to look for a new one because I finished one yesterday. Without even searching the one that caught my eye was titled ‘You’re Not Too Late’ and I had to chuckle at God’s sense of humor.

I don’t know what you’re waiting on or what decisions you need to make but please do not believe that you need to be rushed into a decision. I would also encourage you that as you pray for direction and guidance that you ask the Lord to give you His peace if it is the right answer or to trouble your spirit if it is not.

And, I’ve come to learn that sometimes we will end up waiting on God far longer than we would ever expect or imagine. But I still believe that is part of the plan as this is the place where he does His best work in us. This is the place where we go from chasing an answer to learning how to wait on God and to chase only after Him.

Waiting is not an easy endeavor. I will be the first one to tell you that it’s down right hard. But I do know that when we get our answers, we will understand why the process was what it was.

Dear Heavenly Father, would you allow us to trust you? Would you allow us to know what your directions are for us and please make it clear so that we know whether to wait or whether to go, and allow us to be OK in whatever season you have called us to.
