Wait A Little While

Last week I traveled to Denver on business.

Whether it’s business or vacation, I usually book the cheapest flight that will ensure that I’m on the flight. This was no exception. This is one way I’m able to spread my dollars for more trips. One of the drawbacks is that there is typically no seat assignment until you check in. I’m totally fine with that.. as long as my place on the plane is secure.

When I went to check in 24 hours prior for the return leg, I noticed that it did not assign me a seat nor a boarding zone. Hmmm.. I kept going back to see if I had just not done something and for every seat I tried clicking on, it told me that it was unavailable. It finally gave me the message that I had to wait to get to the counter to get my seat.

While still a little apprehensive, I started jokingly asking God if this was going to be my topic for the weekend.

Because I’m me, I still tried to look if there was a seat assignment prior to getting to the airport, but alas, the message had not changed.. I had to wait until I got to the counter.

After finally getting through security, and realizing I had about an hour prior to the flight, I decided to get lunch. While waiting, I noticed my eboarding pass had been updated.. my boarding zone was not what I had paid for, and my seat was not near the back of the plane.

I got my lunch and proceeded to the gate. As I looked at the board with the seat assignments, I noticed something. Of the 20+ seats that were assigned, mine was the only one that had that boarding zone assigned. I still wasn’t sure what it meant and I had ran into someone from the conference so we had struck up a conversation.

When they started boarding, I finally discovered what it meant. I was to be included in the first 3 boarding groups (normally I’m last), and the flight service was an upgrade as well.

I was elated. God had given me more than I would have even thought to ask for. Ephesians 3:20 states ‘Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us’.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that time and time again you come through better than we can ask or imagine. Thank you for being a good good Father, and that we can trust you when you do not answer right away.
