I woke up yesterday morning a little anxious, and not being able to see that well. While my prescription was never terrible, I’m near sighted and have been for most of my adult life. While I don’t need glasses to read, I need it to watch tv and drive, and really, to see anything that’s at a distance.
I woke up this morning, being able to see the time on my cable box. For some, that won’t mean much, but to me, the only thing that I would have seen before was a blur of numbers unless I went close enough to see the actual time. You see, I had my vision corrected through surgery yesterday. It’s amazing.
The story that keeps coming to mind is the story of the blind man and how Jesus created a salve and put over his eyes. While I know that story, the ones I was able to find while flipping through my bible were where there were beggars along the road side where all He did was tell them to go as their faith had healed them. But I specifically wanted the one of where Jesus mixed the salve for the man’s eyes. I googled (my very good friend) and found the passage:John 9:6. These set of instructions and Jesus’ action was very different than just telling them that they were healed from their blindness.
While both are very nice and the end results are the same, I want to be touched by Jesus. I want him to create that salve and put over me. Not just my eyes, so that I can see better, but for the parts that are broken and hurting. I also want Him to refocus my perspective so that I can see Him clearer in my life. Often times, we get so bogged down by the things that we focus on, instead of focusing on the only one who can fix it all.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your vision, for being able to see the things that we can’t see. Lord, help us to keep our focus on you, so that you may in time, show us what you want us to see. Continue to create that salve of love as you lovingly rub it on all the parts of us that need healing.
