Using God’s Promises to Direct Us in 2023

by | Jan 29, 2023 | Faith Blog

How many of us are waiting for God to deliver on a promise He made us?

What do you do in the time that the promise has been made and God’s deliverance? How do you wait? What do you do?

I was curious to find out how many promises are in the bible. The highest count I saw said 30,000, one said 8,810. Some found over 5,000 and others found over 3,000.

Can we agree on this one thing? There are a ton of promises in the Bible. A ton of them.

How will you allow them to guide you in the coming year?

I encourage you to select a few that are personal to you and to keep them near – somewhere you can see them often.

I want to share with you a few that I have held close:

Genesis 18:14 “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and He will make your paths straight

Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 33:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

Jeremiah 29:11-14 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back from captivity.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Psalm 84:11For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blamelesss.

Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 Then the Lord replied: Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks to the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.

Friends, these are verses that I have been “collecting” for years. They are all underlined in my Bible. Whenever I came across them and I felt like God had highlighted it in my mind based on my current circumstance, I underlined it. They have served as a reminder of some words that God has spoken to my heart.

I encourage you that whatever season you find yourself in for you to find verses and make them personal to you. Allow Him to bring to mind some verses that will strengthen you throughout the year 2023.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you have not left us without your promises of what we need for every season that we go through. Help us to hold on to you and to use your words to encourage us through the hard times.
