Some years ago, in conversation with my friend, she shared what her dreams were.
In reality, we were both in the field of finance, with very different roles than the dreams she shared, and what she envisioned for her future.
Fast forward a few years and life looked differently for both of us.
As she shared pictures with me, my mind instantly went back to the days when she talked about what her future would hold. I texted her back, ‘friend, do you realize this is the exact thing you said you had seen yourself doing?’
It was only when I said it, that she realized that her life had truly become the things she had seen in her future.
As I had my own quiet devotion, I stumbled on a passage of scripture and my mind was illuminated.
Genesis 41:25 states ‘Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same. God has revealed to Pharaoh what He is about to do.”’
Genesis 41:32 states ‘The reason the dream was given to Pharaoh in two forms is that the matter has been firmly decided by God, and God will do it soon.’
Upon reading these, I penned my own note ‘I believe God revealed to [friend] what He was about to do before He did it, and I believe He is doing the same for others’.
Isaiah 42:9 states ‘See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”
Friends, sometimes God will give the vision long before the thing comes to pass.
For my friend, I believe it was about a 7 year time frame between the time she shared what she believed, and it actually coming to pass.
Habakkuk 2:3 states ‘For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.’
Friends, I encourage you to sit at Jesus’ feet to know the difference between your desires and desires that He’s placed in you.
My friend did not need to do anything to manufacture the outcome that she received. She simply showed up, faithfully in each assignment she had been called to, and God did what no man could do.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you reveal to us the things you will do before you do them. Sometimes they are so far fetched and hard to believe, and yet, you still work them out for our good and for the good of others. Help us to be faithful and to trust what you say, even when the vision seems so unbelievable.
