Remember that slogan from some years ago, ‘there’s an app for that’?
Apple trade marked this slogan 10 years ago. One article in 2010 even stated, ‘if it can’t be done on an Apple product, there is no longer officially an app for that.’
That was the thought that popped into my mind yesterday as I sat in amazement and wonderment at a verse I came across. It was almost a summary of a conversation I’d had earlier in the week. Except I never knew it was actually in the Bible.
I’ll share some verses that are dear to me:
Struggling with anxiety:
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7 NIV
Struggling with God’s timing:
“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 NIV
Struggling with trust:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;”
Proverbs 3:5 NIV
Struggling with writing your story:
“Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.”
Habakkuk 2:2 NIV
Struggling with thoughts of your future:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
I could go on and on, but I encourage you to read and find them for yourself, make them personal and hide them in your heart. When the troubles come (and they will come), they will come to mind and be a source of encouragement.
Unlike the statement about Apple, ‘there is no longer officially an app for that’, these verses, written thousands of years ago, still remain true today.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that there really is a verse for everything. In Ecclesiastes 1:9, you said there was nothing new under the sun. Thank you that all our experiences have been seen by you, even though they may feel like they will overwhelm us, there is nothing that you have not seen and cannot handle on our behalf.
