The sparrows

Have you ever wondered what the sparrow looks like?

Yesterday I saw a little tiny bird on the sidewalk. He had many colors and I was reminded of what the Bible says about the sparrow “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10:29‬ ‭KJV‬‬. I decided to google a picture of the sparrow as I was walking. It turned out to be the exact little bird I’d seen. In my quiet moments sitting in the park, I see plenty of these birds hopping around and pecking for food.

The Bible passage is reminding us that we are worth so much more than these little birds, yet our Heavenly Father knows exactly what happens with them, how much more does He know about what happens to us. There’s a similar passage in Matthew 6 that talks about how beautiful the lilies of the field are, not even Solomon in all his splendor was as beautiful, and God knows all about the lilies, who grow for a little while and then are discarded. How much more our Heavenly Father knows about us and our needs?

Are you worried about something today? Our Heavenly Father is reminding you and me through these little sparrows that He can take care of every single need we have. But there’s a condition. Matthew 6:33 states, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭KJV‬‬.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to have a heart that willingly seeks after you, and not just to get the result that we want, but to truly seek you. Please remind us that you can take care of the lilies of the field and the little sparrows that we see fluttering around, and we are far more valuable than these, and you can take care of us and our needs even more.
