The Gifts of Waiting and Trusting

by | Feb 5, 2023 | Faith Blog

This has not happened a lot recently. Going to bed on a Saturday night, not knowing what my topic will be, and then waking up and still not knowing.

As I woke up, knowing what time my blog needs to be posted (I work best with deadlines), I looked at the time and continued to ask God for the topic.

But, there is a noticeable difference with how I show up, even though I have no idea what to share, I’m at complete peace.

‘I could always reuse something I’ve shared in the past,’ I thought. That’s my absolute last resort. Instead, I’m going to wait to hear what God would have me share. Fresh manna and fresh words to minister to my heart as well.

This week, after ending my devotionals with a modified verse for two years, my heart was prompted that it was time to change. Without even thinking about it, my hands wrote a ‘new’ verse to close my devotional time.

‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.’ Proverbs 3:5-6… later that evening, my mom shared the same verse and told me that’s been her favorite verses for many years. I guess I never even knew.

As I’m typing now, there’s about 30 minutes before my blog is automatically sent out. In the past, that would be unnerving to me, but, over the years, I have learned that God comes through at just the right time.

I even came across this sentence in my devotional Bible, ‘As we wait and trust, we begin to experience love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)’.

My track record with my Father is that He is always on time and I do not need to worry.

What is your track record with Him?

Dear Heavenly Father, I’m so grateful for how you continue to show up in the seen and unseen. Thank you for this time where you have lovingly taught me how to cast all my cares on you, teaching me how to trust you in everything and that you will provide for my needs.

Side note: if you’ve gotten this far, please pray for the people in my life who are facing serious health challenges during this time. Thank you.
