Step out of the boat of comfort

Today, I celebrate one year of leaving a job/career that molded me into who I am. But God said that season was over.
I wrote this for my second book: ‘Walking in Obedience: Learning to Trust God Each Step of the Way’ more to come in the next few months. Today, I want to share it with you.
Step out of the boat of comfort
‘If you don’t step out of the boat, you will never walk on water.’ Mark batterson, 40 day prayer challenge
In the last few years, I’ve stepped out of many things that once held my comfort. I’ve done many things, but realize I don’t grow much in my comfort zone.
The more I’ve taken one step of obedience, the more God has trusted me to do the next thing.
It started with a simple obedience of writing, which didn’t make sense as I’m not a writer. Then it moved into speaking and even publishing a book.
If you think that’s crazy to you, it’s even crazier from my perspective.
After those initial steps of obedience, I was then given the green light to leave a secure job, that had taken care of all my needs and many of my wants. It had taught me so much and helped to mold me into who I had become. But my time there was done, and God opened a new door of entrepreneurship – it was a crazy thought, but because of my previous steps of obedience, God now trusted me with this step.
In the last 8 months, while in the process of growing a business, I’ve been able to do so much and to meet many wonderful people. But that would not have happened had I not stepped out of my boat of comfort.
What boat of comfort are you staying in when God is asking you to step out and walk on water? Trust Him. It may not be easy, but I promise that you won’t be disappointed. Just keep taking each step of obedience, one step at a time.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you see everything, long before it even becomes a thought for us. Help us to walk in obedience for each step you would have us take, even when the next step seems scary or unknown to us – you already know the plans for us.
