A few days ago I was struggling. I wasn’t sure why, but something just felt completely off. When that happens, I usually start analyzing what’s different in my routine.
As I was evaluating what changes I had made, I knew how I was spending my quiet time was to be blamed.
I still woke up early to have quiet time before the rest of my home woke up, but it was more distracted quiet time than it being focused quiet time.
There were Facebook and Instagram messages to be checked.
There were text messages that were coming in as I was reading.
There were emails that were calling my name.
My mind was distracted while trying to have my quiet time and everything else was vying for my attention, even that early in the morning.
Then I received a few messages from my friend this week.
1) Do something nice for yourself today.
2) You can’t pour from an empty cup. Make sure you nourish your spirit first. Have a blessed day!!
(I’d told two special ladies this just earlier in the day – not realizing I was guilty too)
3) Activities without purpose is a drain on your life. Be intentional about what you choose to do today.
Three different messages on three different days, that spoke directly to my heart.
I knew I needed to stop and be more intentional about how I spent my quiet time.
Is this something you need to do as well? Let’s do it together.
Heavenly Father, may you never become just a routine or a list that we need to check off that it was done. Help us to be intentional and focused about the time we spend in your presence. Thank you for friends who speak to our hearts without even knowing the situation.
