Slow progress is still progress

I find myself either saying this phrase to friends or thinking it a lot these days. ‘Slow progress is still progress.’

As my daughter and I got to church and were circling looking for parking, she noticed an older gentleman walking with a cane.
When we finally found a spot, parked and got out of the car, we started walking towards our church. My daughter then pointed out that the gentleman hadn’t gotten very far. She was telling me where we first saw him, and by then, he was about the end of the block. About two thirds of the block.
It was then I started sharing with her: ‘did you know that slow progress is still progress? Sometimes you are moving slowly to get where you want to go, but as long as you are moving towards that place, keep going.’ As we normally do, we talked and joked about sometimes we may end up standing still, or even moving backwards.
Are you in a situation where your progress is slow? But you have seen some movement forward? Keep pressing on, and remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Sometimes it will take laying one foundational brick at a time to get you to build your city.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you honor consistency over speed. Help us to run the race of endurance so that when we are done, we make it to the finish line marked for us.
