Rushing Ahead

Editor’s note: This post was written in June of 2019. I now have the benefit of looking back two years. I can confidently say that it’s been better than I could have imagined.

Have you ever just wanted to rush what God is doing in your life?

That’s the place I’m finding myself lately. I’m being given specific instructions for this season. The instructions are actually still coming, but I’m asking God what’s next. It’s quite funny as I observe my brain and the conversations I’m having with God.

Then the gentle reminder comes.

‘Slow down. I’m answering your prayer from months or years ago. Enjoy what I’m doing now instead of rushing ahead.’

You see, sometimes we can become so hyper aware of the future and what it should look like, that we miss the blessings of what God is doing in this season, and the prayers that He is answering from many seasons ago.

If you’re like me, you need to have a plan for what every detail should look like. Instead, God is saying to me, ‘Kaysi, I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. But you must trust me, and trust the learning process I am taking you through.’

For a perpetual planner, these instructions are hard. But as someone who is learning to trust my Heavenly Father, I rest knowing that He has a plan, and I don’t need to know every detail.

Will you join me in trusting Him and the process?

Dear Heavenly Father, sometimes not knowing what tomorrow looks like is hard for me. But Father, I know that you hold all tomorrows in the palm of your hands. Help me to slow down and trust that your plans for me are good even when I can’t understand or foresee how it’s all coming together.
