I just spoke a few weeks ago about being thankful for the friendships that God has blessed me with, but God has spoken to my heart on this topic again.
As I spent the evening with a friend, sharing with her in a way that means so much to her by cooking and spending quality time with her, I marveled at God and how He brought us together.
We don’t share the same religion, nor do I really talk about religion with her. I don’t ever believe my job is about ‘converting’ anyone I meet. I believe my job is simply showing up and being a friend and living my life. This is also a friend who empowers me. If she knows I publish my blog and she didn’t receive it, I get a text calling me out – even after three years, she remains consistent.
As we were wrapping up the night, and I hugged her mom, she whispered ‘thank you’… my heart heard so much more than the words she said. My heart heard: ‘thank you for being here for my daughter.. thank you for loving her.. thank you for showing up’…
My heart was full, knowing that I rarely talk religion… but she/they, hear and see God’s love.
And this my friends, make for richer and deeper friendships.
Dear Heavenly Father, I am so grateful that you choose to recognize just how important mutually benefiting relationships are and gift them to us. Father, I ask that you continue to bless my friend as she needs.
