Remain in Peace

Some years ago I was in the midst of questioning God. I had been asking a specific question ‘how come you said this thing, yet it looks nothing like what you’ve said’ and I believe in the midst of all of that, God took time to answer me. One of the phrases comes from Psalm 46:10 ‘Be still and know that I am God’.. along with another statement.

How do I know that it was God answering? I wasn’t sure at the time, but I felt an incredible peace cover me. One that I still cannot describe. I’ve also come to realize that neither of those statements are things I would have told myself in that situation.

Yesterday morning as I sat in total silence, and after many years of learning to ‘be still and know’ I realized that I felt an incredible sense of peace. As at any given time, there is a lot going on in my life, but instead of getting anxious about the many moving parts, I sat there in complete peace.

I contemplated my instruction so long ago to ‘be still and know’ and now realize that God wasn’t just answering for one particular situation. He has answered for my whole being. For every single aspect of who I was and who I was becoming.

As I turned the page to journal this morning, this is the verse on the bottom: 2 Thessalonians 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

And now as I look back, I realize He was preparing my heart for every season and every trial and even in the hard circumstances, I can remain in peace, and trust Him.

What do you believe God is saying to your heart?

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for instructions that do not make sense, but then you use it to teach and to transform. I pray for anyone reading this right now, that you would give them all they need, and that you will provide the peace that passeth all understanding.
