Prayer changes things

I’ve been dealing with a personal situation in my life. Not many people know about it because I’m just not one to share, but yesterday it came to what felt like an overwhelming moment. While in the past, I would just try to deal with it on my own the best way I know how, I’m learning that prayer changes things, and even if it doesn’t change things right when you expect it, it changes our attitudes as we wait.

I sent out a few texts of prayer requests. Our dear family friend called and prayed with me, and it left me in tears, and at peace. Another friend reminded me that we are not meant to walk through our lives and hardships alone, but we should be able to encourage each other when we don’t know which direction to go and to point each other towards our Heavenly Father. Another person started a prayer line. I was sent another distinct reminder through a book I’m reading, that we aren’t meant to do this life alone, and that’s why there’s a spiritual community.

Friends, are you going through something that is beyond your control and you feel alone? Don’t, please call on your praying, trustworthy friends. Even when you don’t know what to say to God, He wants you to come to Him, in the simplicity of ‘Lord, help me’. He knows what we need, before we do, but we have to bring Him into the situation. God won’t force His help upon but He is willing and able to help us to overcome.

The Bible tells us in James 5:13 NLT ‘are you suffering hardships? You should pray’. God is calling us to seek Him, not just in good times or bad, but to seek Him always.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you that we can call on you in our struggles, and we thank you that we can call on you when all we want to do is praise. Help us to remember that you are an on time God and no matter how we view our situation, that you are already working it out for our good, but we must trust you, and the process.
