I think I’ve gotten into a rhythm of posting a blog thought once per week, mainly on the weekend.
As Friday approached, I realized I had not seen any lessons that would translate into a thought, and so I started praying for something. Saturday came. Nothing. Sunday came. Nothing. Sunday evening came. Still nothing.
I had almost given up on sharing, except I believe I have a commitment with God to share once per week. I mentioned it to my author friend and she suggested I repost a previous blog thought. That would work too. Except there was no revelation of a previously discussed topic that came to mind.
In a quick moment, I decided to ask that same friend to guest blog for me. She quickly agreed. I asked her to send me the post, and she did without hesitation. Her topic was on Friendship and Love.
When I shared it, one of the responses I received was that it was an answer to her prayer request from earlier that day.
Then I thought back to the day before, when one of the young ladies I watched grow up shared her public testimony: she was stranded without a way to get into her apt. The answer to her prayer request, was her sister’s flight delay where she was able to go get the key. And sometimes how our disappointments can be someone’s blessing.
She challenged us to try to look at our situations differently.
Can we see that sometimes we might be disappointed in what our situation looks like, not realizing that God is using our situation to answer someone else’s prayer?
I’ve had that thought too. I want answers to my prayers. But I must realize that there are others who have their prayer requests, and God may be using my set backs and disappointments so that someone else’s prayer may be answered.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to see with spiritual eyes. Please change our perspective and remind us that we cannot have a ‘me only’ attitude when we pray. Help us to let go the reigns of our lives so that you can reign supremely.
