I’ve mentioned in my last few posts that I sense God calling me to slow down.
In a very unusual occurrence, I started pondering a solo trip. For reference, the last time I took a solo (non business) trip was 11 years ago for 24 hours, before I became a mom. I enjoy traveling with my daughter, and mom, when she joins us.
This pull was different.
My daughter gave me the one condition I could go without her, and when I asked my mom friend, her one word response came back ‘go’. I had to check a couple more times if she was serious. She was. ‘Go’…
I tried to book my usual hotel – unavailable. I looked directly on the website: no availability for me on my dates.
Instead, I booked a hotel not too far away, in the heart of everything, across the street from one of the most beautiful beaches.
This trip was to be a total of 50 hours, just a little over two full days.
I started asking God: how did this even come together, and why? (This is a whole testimony in itself)…
I met so many people who were traveling, whether for business or vacation.
My internet connection did not work (another blessing), so I was able to connect with those around me and be fully present.
I conquered a fear of swimming out in the deep waters, both leaving from the shore and then from a pier to the shore. I had the guidance of a seasoned life guard who had been giving someone else a lesson – and I asked if he would take me out. He both gently pushed me but allowed me to work within my comfort level and build my confidence along the way (another whole testimony).
I connected with and spoke with locals and tourists alike. It was truly an adventure and it was incredible.
What are you sensing God telling you to do? Can you explore in a way that is comfortable for you? Even while seeking out trusted and experienced people along the way for guidance?
I would have never accomplished so much in such a short time had I not let go of my comfort zone.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for these experiences. I am so grateful for friends and family who are supportive. Thank you for making a way that initially looked impossible.
