Keep Writing It Down

I like to write things down. I’m not sure where the habit came from, maybe it was to collect my thoughts. Maybe it was so that I could articulate better my wishes, or maybe, just so I can actually remember the things I want for myself. But somehow, many years ago, I started writing things down.

In August 2020, I found a list of written items in the notes section of my phone of what I wanted from my career. It was dated March, 2015. I cried as I looked back over those five years and saw how God had strategically answered my prayers, not giving me what I wanted, in the manner I wanted it.

This week as I learned of some new things, I went back and looked at the list. And then I noticed the date. Now, I’m even more grateful that God saw fit not to answer me in the way I wanted. It was for my own protection. I was in awe.

I would not have remembered any of this if it were not written down with the date.

Fast forward to this morning and I stumble across a list of books I wanted to write. I had ‘Done’ next to two of them. I wondered when it was written because the third one was also done but had no note next to it. I scrolled through my phone and realized that just five days after I had written the list, I wrote the third book.

If I know myself, I likely didn’t even remember that I had the list written down (hence I become even more grateful that it’s written down).

Habakkuk 2:2 states ‘Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.’

I encourage you, whatever season you are in, write it down, and put a date on it. You may be surprised the next time you stumble across the note.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your love. Thank you for your protection even though at times it may seem as if we are not getting what we want, but when we look back and see your protective hand over the situation, I can’t help but be grateful. Help me to have a discerning spirit to understand when you do not answer in the way that I would like.

Ps.. this week I did another scary thing. Not sure if I’d written it down or not, but I started a YouTube channel. I’ll try to post a link, but if it doesn’t work, search ‘Kaysian Gordon’ and it will come up. These are small bites of financial information. I’ve shared four videos to start building on the fundamentals of financial knowledge. I welcome your feedback.
