Just One…

This week has been filled with testimonies, so it’s been hard to settle on just one.

So, I’ll share a quick note on the one I originally thought was going to be the topic. There may be times in our lives that God will take us on a journey. It may end up being one of the hardest seasons we may walk through, and yet, it will be the cornerstone that builds us, and our lives may become the testimony that others will see. Sometimes, our experiences won’t be just about us, but it will serve as an example to others of what God can do.

Now, back to today’s topic ‘Just One’.

I’ve been in a season I cannot explain. There are no words to describe what’s been going on and the things that I’ve been quietly accomplishing in my yard.

My fence has had a broken piece for a year or two now. While it’s been annoying, I know the time is not right to replace the fence. My dad offered to paint the fence for me, but I told him I could paint it myself, I just needed the paint.

Once I got the paint, I started contemplating how I would work around that missing piece. I didn’t need a whole panel – I just needed one piece.

I went to my local Home Depot, and started asking around. I easily asked four different people who were sure they sold just one piece. And yet, I could not find it, nor could anyone point me in the right spot.

There was one woman who had said she’d helped, but quite a few minutes passed before I saw her again. When I did see her, she was walking with a gentleman who was not wearing a uniform, and was very well dressed. I asked them both, and he explained that they had thrown all of them out just two days prior.

Man.. I missed this thing by two days?

I’ve been learning to ask God for what I want – so, I asked the gentleman to look again, while I was praying. He explained that they had been in a particular spot, which we were standing in, and they were not there.

I kept praying. ‘Lord, I just need one’.

The gentleman keeps looking, walks over to the other side, and picks up the ONE piece that I needed.

As I take it from him, I tell him that I had been praying for it.

As they had thrown out all the others, I jokingly asked him if it was free. He simply says ‘sure’.   I did end up buying a bunch of other things I needed, but, I was so grateful and humbled how God saw fit to answer my ‘just one’ prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, you keep reminding me that you are an ‘exceedingly,  abundantly more than I can ask or imagine ‘ God. Thank you that you keep showing up. May I always remember the ways you show up when I ask.
