Just do it!

Today’s title sounds like the ad slogan for Nike, but it is truly an encouragement to you and me to ‘just do’ what God has placed on your heart!

Today is a special day. It is my mother’s birthday, whom I celebrate, but it’s also the 1 year anniversary of my blog, which was started especially today to honor her for all she has done.

My first post a year ago was entitled ‘I’m ready, well maybe!’ You see, had I left it up to me, I think I would still have been sitting at my desk trying to figure out how to create a blog, but God saw fit to work out the mechanics. You see, had I left it up to me, I would still be trying to figure out whether I had what it takes to write anything, and especially something that would interest others, but God said, ‘leave the words and the topics to me’. You see, had someone told me that I would be in this position a year later, I would have told them to stop making up stories, but God said ‘I can see the beginning from the end, but you MUST trust me’. So, a year ago, I officially started out on a Faith Journey.

I thank you to you who are helping me along this highway, and making the journey just a little bit easier.

Just last night I commented on a friend’s Instagram post and I just woke up to a response from her that said she is still working on her ‘faith muscles’. That brought me back to shortly after I started sharing my writing, I had also shared on how God strengthens us, using the example of my then 33 lb daughter. Thank God she didn’t grow to be 33 lbs overnight, or I wouldn’t have been able to carry her. Instead, God in his infinite wisdom, allowed her to grow a little at our time from her original birth weight of 3lbs 4 oz. and so it is with us, God gives us little things each time so that He may build our faith. I can see that after around 120 blog posts over the course of the year, God has strengthened me and reminded me that this is not about me, but it is about my obedience to whatever He is asking of me.

What is God asking you to do? What is God asking you to let go for Him so that He can work in your life? ‘Just do it’ God is able to do immeasurably more than we can ever think of asking of Him, but you must trust Him and His process. His way of getting you to the destination may not be the way you would have had in mind, but God can see all the congestion and construction ahead that you can’t see, and He might take you on many detours, the key is just not to lose hope or faith.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come. I bring you nothing except a broken and contrite heart, asking you to do only what you can do. Lord, please heal us, please open our eyes to see you and your immense love for us, and that you will not allow anything to happen without there being a purpose. Continue to teach us your ways, because your ways are higher and better than any we can imagine.
