A few weeks ago, I prayed the bold prayer of asking to be Jesus’ hands and feet. In the middle of my prayer, I received a nudge, “are you sure you want what you are asking?”… I wasn’t. I instantly changed my prayer to “Lord, please help me to be your hands and feet”.
You see, sometimes when we ask God for things, He answers in ways we don’t at all expect. Within a few days, it was as if my eyes were opened. Being Jesus’ hands and feet meant walking out of church in the middle of the service with a mother with two small children, as one of them upchucked the contents of her stomach, and tending her because the mom only has two hands and two little ones to care for.
And to have the situation repeated almost exactly a few weeks later. But still being willing to do it. I could see the relief on the mother’s face as she told me – you are always here to help me. I was quick to remind her that these are the things we do for each other.
It has meant stepping out of my comfort zone and doing things when I feel prompted to do them.
What does being Jesus’ hands and feet mean to you?
Matthew 25:35-36 states “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
I pray the next time I am prompted to do something for someone else, that I will be quick to obey.
Dear Heavenly Father, please help us to see the needs of others around us and to be quick to help out. Lord, you have told us that in doing so we may entertain angels unaware. Let us be quick to respond. We know we cannot out give you.
