It May Not Make Sense

My daughter is home as she has a day of asynchronous learning.  I hear her both doing her work, but choosing to partner up with other kids in her class to get it done.

A few minutes into her trying to solve a particular problem, she yells: ‘mom, I need your help’. She rarely asks for my help to get stuff done.  As she comes and shows me her issue, she was having a hard time trying to hit a number at exactly a specific spot on her number line.  I zoomed out – which technically should have made it even harder to hit. She’s asking, ‘why would you do that?’…

But, in a moment, I’m able to hit the exact number that she’s been trying to get to. She then thanks me and walks away.

I chuckle at her.

You see, I have an undergrad degree in accounting. I have an MBA in finance, accounting and taxation. I have both CPA and CFP(r) licenses – think.. lots and lots of math and many many years of using computers. You see, my daughter does not understand the depth of my knowledge.

As I sat there chuckling at her, I got a sobering reminder.

Kaysi, you don’t understand the depth of my knowledge.  You are telling me that this thing is too hard for me to do, but you seem to forget my experience.

Whew!!!!!!

Friends, when we ask God to do something for us, let us remember that He comes with experience that is beyond our wildest imagination. And, while I zoomed out to get to the perfect spot for her line graph – God knows whether He needs to zoom in or zoom out to get us to the exact point we desire.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your unfailing wisdom. Thank you that your ways won’t always make sense to us, but, your understanding no one can fathom. I continue to be amazed at how you bring things about.
