In the fullness of time

My friend and I were having a conversation about the things that are happening in my life. She’s a new friend, so she’s only seeing what’s happening from a very current perspective. I’ve shared a little about my writing experiences and how I got started a few years ago, writing, with no intention of sharing it with anyone. That was my intention. God had a different plan.

As I’m thinking about it, there’s a verse in Proverbs 16:9 ESV ‘The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.’ I was planning one thing, God had other plans.

Today, I’m about to publish a whole devotional book.

If that surprises you, to be honest, it surprises me too. I will still tell you that I’m not a writer, but God has seen it fit to use me. I did not know what I was doing when I started (there are many days that I still wonder). God has still seen it fit to use me. I continued to write when I had no idea where it was going. God still saw it fit to use me.

Sometimes we are waiting on God to deliver something to us, or to answer a prayer. But sometimes in those times of waiting, we forget that there is a right time and a wrong time.

In Galatians 4:4 ESV “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law.”

It had become the right time for Jesus to be born. Not before and not after.

Dear Heavenly Father, Lord, we are waiting for you. We are waiting for things that you have promised us. Father, help us to remember that you do all things well, and you do things ‘in the fullness of time’. Help us not to get weary of doing what you have called us to do, but in the right time, you will fulfill your promises to us.
