It’s good to have friends and colleagues that you can talk about God with. There are certain times that my faith wavers, and as a result, my trust in God wavers. I’m being honest with you. I wish I could tell you I had the faith and patience of Job all the time, but I don’t. As I walked into my office this morning and checked my work email, there was an email waiting from a trusted colleague that shared that she had been playing the song “Trust in you” by Lauren Daigle.
You see, sometimes I get these “random” messages, where others are sharing with me, but it’s more a reminder to me, that I can trust God. I decided to pay this colleague a visit. Normally, as I’m only going to another office, I’d leave my phone – something said “take your phone”, and so I did. There was another song I’d heard on the radio this morning as I was leaving the car, “In the eye of the storm” by Ryan Stevenson that I wanted to share, but as usual, I wasn’t able to pull it up on my work computer. As we started talking, the thought came to me to share a few other songs that I go to when my trust level is low. Those are Donnie McClurkin’s “I’ll Trust You” and “I trust You” by James Fortune & Fiya. I think by now you can see the running theme through these songs – Trusting God in spite of everything, and trusting Him for the outcome.
There are times that you will need someone to encourage you along your journey, and God places these people in your life in unexpected ways. Make sure you have and use these people. There will be times that you can’t stand on your own, but they will stand with you and for you. Keep them close.
I’ve shared with you some of the songs that strengthen my faith when I feel weak, please check them out. We were able to listen to these songs on my phone, and cry and pray and encourage each other.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for friends who hold us up when we can’t hold ourselves up. Help us to recognize the gift of these people and to appreciate and value them. Help us to be friends that others can count on in times of need as well.
