‘I want you to trust Me’

Have you been going through some things and you just didn’t understand what God was doing?

That’s where I was a few years ago.

I remember distinctly walking through the streets of Manhattan as I headed home, asking God why was He doing what He was doing. The quiet but firm response came to my heart: ‘I want you to trust Me’.

Since then, I’ve had even more questions than sometimes I have answers for what God is doing – but the answer remains the same ‘I want you to trust Me’. God has been teaching me in this time that He is a God to be trusted, no matter what my situation looks like.

I may get frustrated because I’m looking at the small obstacles in front of me, but when I’m getting ready to start complaining (or have been complaining for days), I’m reminded that He sees the big picture. I don’t believe God will put me through certain processes unnecessarily. I’ve been able to look back and see that He has been refining who I am.

I imagine Him telling me that He is making me into His own image, and for that to happen, He has to burn away the stuff that does not belong. And when He is done burning away that stuff, He starts the polishing process. He wants me to look like Him; to love like Him; and to treat others like Him.

Are you walking through a situation that doesn’t quite make sense to you? He wants you to trust Him too that He knows what He’s doing.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that what may appear to be obstacles or set backs for us are not surprises to you. Thank you that through it all, you are in the midst of them and it’s through these circumstances that we can learn to trust who you are, our Father who loves us with an everlasting love and wants the best for us.
