I love to walk down the road and hold my daughter’s hand. Thankfully, she still enjoys holding mine as well.
There have been many times when we have been walking and holding hands, and I feel her stumble, but because of my grip of her hand, she does not fall. Sometimes she gets shaken up by it, but then I remind her that that is exactly why we hold hands.
Every time that has happened, I’ve had the very same thought: ‘That is how it is when we are holding God’s hands and He is holding us as well, we might stumble, but we will not fall.’
I just came across the verse that supports my thought: Psalm 37:4 NIV ‘though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.’
Are you feeling like you are stumbling over and over? Are you holding on to the unchanging hands of our Lord? Remember, this is a promise, we will not fall – but we have to keep holding on to Him, just like my daughter keeps holding on to my hand, and it keeps her secure and from falling.
Heavenly Father, thank you for not letting go of our hands. Help us to realize that it’s never you who lets go, it’s usually us. Lord, if we have let go of you for any reason, help us to come back to you, knowing that we are secure with you and while we may stumble, we will not fall, as your word has promised.
