I saw this morning’s Bible verse of the day and had to smile as I remembered an incident from just yesterday.
The verse comes from Ephesians 3:20 ‘Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us’
As I was walking out of church, I saw my church father who I had not seen in a very long time. He asked me a question and the response was going to be too long, while the service was still going on so I told him to walk out with me. Two seconds later, I saw my little sister who calls me aunty and she too started walking out with us as she wanted to talk to my daughter about her birthday that passed this week.
As soon as I stepped outside and looked across the street, I knew I had a potential problem. My four way flashers had been on for over three hours. It was likely my battery would be dead. I groaned a little bit, and my little sister cheerily says, ‘Aunty, let me know if you need me, I have my jumper cable in my car, I can pull around’.
My church dad continues to walk over with me, I’m able open the doors but the car won’t start.
My sister yells out if I need her and I signal yes, and I go and pull out my own cables.
My church dad who knows exactly what to do, connects them to my battery and waits for her to come, and when she arrives connects to her battery and tells me to start the car.
The verse makes me smile, because I did not even need to ask for this help. Our Father is able to do immeasurably more than we can even think or ask.
I’m so very thankful for a church family who takes care of me like family.
The song the praise team started with was ‘God is able to do just what He said He would do…’ this verse seems very fitting as a continuation.
Is there something you are asking God to do? Rest assured, He can do immeasurably more – it just might not be in the way you ask. Trust the process anyway.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for those who show up for us in our time of need, and not even asks questions. I’m very grateful to be a part of a family who looks out and cares for others.
