Have you ever been just so desperate to hear from God regarding your situation? You’ve been diligently asking and seeking – but the answer or more like, the timing of the answer just isn’t changing. That’s where I found myself once again this week. Frustrated and weary – a bad combination.
One of the things I do in that situation, is to go to God’s word. I was already starting my devotional time, but I just wanted to hear God’s instructions one more time. As I was also starting to think of what to share for my church’s program and tying it into the theme – I’ve been thinking of God’s covenant promises. I went straight to my bible. Flipped through a few pages – and seemingly found nothing. I closed it, and went to my regular devotions, still asking God to speak to my situation.
Intouch.org talked about if we want to hear from God, we have to be like Samuel when he was first called. Allow ourselves to listen and tell the Lord that we are listening. Ok. I’m doing that – simply being still. The next one I went to was Proverbs31.org. This one has been an incredible resource for many years. Just the title alone “I know God is working” – followed by the scripture “on the left hand when He is working, I do not behold Him; He turns to the right hand, but I do not see him” Job 23:9. I read through it and just continued to be in awe as the author seemed to be speaking directly to me. It ends with prayer and scripture – it’s almost as if the prayer were words that I was speaking. But here’s the part – she ends with this scripture found in Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing shall be impossible”..
This scripture brought me right back to when I know that God told me that nothing is too hard for Him to do – which sent me searching to where that is found. Remember I shared earlier that when I opened my bible and nothing spoke to me. But when I found the scripture in Jeremiah – it turned out to be on the page that I had opened.
Dear Heavenly Father, one thing I know for sure is that you keep your promises. Thank you for reminding me that when I am weary and frustrated, that I can seek You in your word and You promise to answer in Your perfect time.
