Extreme Measures

If you’re anything like me, I go to God and ask Him to solve a problem. As I always have my planning hat on, I also go with how the thing should be solved.

Please tell me I’m not the only one.

What I’ve noticed is that the way I ‘suggest’ He executes is never the way He does. Instead, He takes time to work things out in a way that I could never see or imagine.

As I’m seeing how He’s solved for something, the phrase that comes to mind is His ways can sometimes be seen as ‘extreme measures’.

Extreme because sometimes it takes us fully to the end of ourselves before He steps in. Sometimes we’re even at the point of giving up and throwing in the towel, and then He steps in in such a majestic way that it leaves you scratching your head.  That way of solving the issue would not have crossed your mind in a million years.

The verse that keeps coming to mind is  Isaiah 55:8. The NLT states it this “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

God’s thoughts and ways are so different than we could even begin imagine. And somehow, that fills me with gratitude.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that our ways are so different than yours. We may not understand the ways you work, but you do. Help us to trust that you have good for us, even when it doesn’t feel that way.
