Consistency

This morning I opened my Bible app at it said I had consistently opened the app for 400 days! I have never made this accomplishment. Usually, life would happen, and I’d somehow forget to open it after 150 days. So, for me, this is huge.

There’s another metric next to the days. It says: 173 weeks. I just did the math for the equivalent number of days and was blown away.

I’m reading a book called ‘Atomic Habits’, and I’ve found it to be powerful in thinking of how and why habits are formed. Part of being able to accomplish anything is about being consistent and creating good habits.

If you’d asked me previously, I’d tell you I’m no good at sticking to anything for any amount of time. I get bored or I forget and just… stop… isn’t that human behavior?

As I look back over the last few years, I’m grateful that some consistent habits are being developed in me.
By the way, I think it’s also worth noting that we can create consistent bad habits that can come at our detriment.

What are some habits that you need to either create or undo? I promise you, consistency goes a far way, and you only need to do the think one day at a time.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for teaching us how to create consistent habits. Help us that they will be good habits that will serve us and others well.
