In my very early days of starting to write, I kept coming across this verse of scripture: Matthew 6:33 NIV ‘But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.’ I’ve since added verse 34 ‘Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own’
I’m smiling as I type this, because even my daughter can recite the last part to me – I must tell her this often.
It also must be a recurring theme for me, because I’ve journaled on this very verse 4 times already this month. I believe that God is reminding me, that I need to chase Him, and not my goals.
I’m also reading a book by James Clear called ‘Atomic Habits’, and while not directly related, it seems to be related for me. The premise is: do the next small thing. You can make big progress, if you simply keep doing lots of the same small thing, on a consistent basis. I’ve already implemented some of the small things, and I’m seeing the bigger impact.
What do you think God is calling you to do? Don’t think you need to get there all at once, He’s just asking you to take the next (or first) step of obedience. From my personal experience, you’d be surprised how one small step, consistently, can lead you in the direction He’s calling you.
Dear Heavenly Father, please continue to teach me that what I have to do first is to chase after You. Please help me to be obedient and consistent in the direction you provide. You have promised that when I seek you first, that all these other things will be added – so help me to seek you with all my heart.
