Today marks four years of writing my blog. I can hardly believe it. It’s an easy anniversary to remember as it’s also my mother’s birthday. If you know her, please reach out and wish her a happy birthday.
Thank you to those who encouraged me to write. Thank you to those who started the journey with me. Thank you to those who joined me along the journey and still read what I share. You are appreciated more than I can say in words. I look forward to continuing to write as long as God keeps speaking and giving me a message to share.
Changed Perspective
After 14 weeks of being home, I finally gave myself permission to do something except work and being a parent.
I read one of my friend’s Facebook posts and she had seemingly exhausted in home activities with her family, including moving around furniture. I looked around my living room where everything is in the same place since I moved in a little over four years ago. I had thought a few times of moving stuff around, but could never quite figure out in my head how to reconfigure to make it all fit together. I had simply left it alone with no fresh ideas.
As I was already in the midst of thinking how to reconfigure my thinking to make my current life work, I decided to give it another shot. One morning, instead of jumping into starting to work, I decided it was time. I started moving stuff around, with relative ease. I had determined in my mind that I needed to work in a different way than I had done for the last 20 years. This change does not come easily.
One of the things I did, was move my couch to the other side of the room. I even changed the spot where I had my quiet time. I moved my curtains back and opened the window. It was almost as if a new world had opened up to me. Same living room. Just a different spot with a view. I had a new perspective – not just from a physical sense.
Is there something in your life that you need to change? Is there a habit that you need to break so that you can reconfigure your thinking?
Let’s do it together.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for switching my perspective this week. While I like the comfort of doing things the way I’ve always done it, this is not always the best way. Help me to see with fresh eyes so that I can grow into who you would have me be.
