Remain in Peace
Some years ago I was in the midst of questioning God. I had been asking a specific question ‘how come you said this thing, yet it looks nothing like what you’ve said’ and I believe in the midst of all of that, God took time to answer me. One of the phrases comes from Psalm […]
‘We Offer Our Condolences’
Yet another anniversary rolls around of the tragic passing of my brother. Today makes 15 years. Although it’s been many years, the suddenness of it still remains. This week, our family lost the matriarch of our family, my maternal grandmother. While not as sudden, it’s still extremely sad, even with being able to see all […]
The Aerial View
As I was scrolling through Instagram, I saw this aerial view of a road I’ve traveled a few times. I’ve driven along the top road, unable to see what was below and unable to see what was to the left or right due to the foliage. I’ve even had the pleasure of going on the […]
Pause, Rest and Reset
This week we took a pause from our regular life. We ended the school year and we were grateful. I do want to share one message that has been a constant in my life ‘be still and know that I am God’. This has been and still is one of my hardest instructions. It’s hard […]
I Am Still Confident of This…
Are you in a situation that you cannot see how it will end? You’ve been praying and asking God for directions and it seems you might have clarity, only for the door to be closed in front of you or not even be opened. Friends, take heart. I’ve had two conversations in the last 24 […]
Better Than We Can Ask
A few weeks ago, the security guard of my office building called me as I was walking by him. We’d chatted on a few occasions. He wore his Christianity boldly. He explained that his church was having a fundraiser and asked if I was willing to contribute a dollar or two. I looked in my […]
Six Years Later
This morning I sit in complete awe. As we were cleaning up, my daughter’s friend found a few of my original business cards that had fallen and asked me what to do with them. I opted to take them and look and reminisce. I had started a blog and I was sharing with a stranger […]
Blessings in Obedience
As I pondered what to write about, this title came to mind. It sounded vaguely familiar, so I went back and realized that I’d written with a similar title at the beginning of the year ‘Blessings of Obedience’. I wish I knew the specific thing that I needed to be obedient on that day – […]
Three Long Years
It’s been three very long years since I encountered driving anxiety. The irony of this situation is about six months prior, I was given an unusual task at work. I was asked to leave the office early and go pick up a package that was closer to my home. I remember being in the car, […]
Deep Gratitude… and Frustration
Those were the two headline words in my journal recently. When I journal at a time that I don’t normally, I typically write the time. I want to remember the thought process when I look back a few days or many years later. This one has a time stamp of 2:15am – which means I’d woken up […]
