These are the words that are on my heart this morning.
It could be that it’s because it’s close to the verse on the bottom of the page of my journal found in Jeremiah 29:11. While I love what that particular verse says, there’s just something special about the verses right after.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 states ‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’
There’s something incredibly comforting about Jeremiah 29:11. It is a beautiful reminder that God has good plans for me. He wants to prosper me and not to bring me harm. He wants to give me hope and a future. I smile at the thought that God has good plans for me, because especially this morning, I need to be reminded of that.
As I mentioned, while I love that verse, it’s the other ones that give me an added sense of joy. This morning I’m worried and anxious as I wait for something that is beyond my control, even though I know He has good plans for me (I am human). But then I think of the next two verses.
He wants me to call upon Him. The God of the universe wants little ol’ Kaysi to call upon Him. And not just to call on Him with no expectation of a response, He promises that when I do, He will listen to me. The God of the universe will listen to little ol’ me. And as if that’s not enough, He tells me that when I seek Him with my whole Heart, He will be found by me.
After enduring a restless night, waking up to a promise like this and the contingent promise that I have a part to play, makes me teary eyed and allows me to breathe a little easier.
I can trust that no matter what happens today, God has good plans for me, and He has invited me into His presence. A gift I will willingly and graciously accept.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the comfort and peace you have brought my heart this morning. Thank you for the reminder that your plans are good – no matter what they look like in the moment. Thank you for the reminder that I can trust you and I can continue to call upon you.
