Bloom at Your Pace

As I look out the window, I notice my tree is still bare. This spring it seems as if everything is developing at their own pace more so than I’ve ever noticed before.

As I’ve walked through the park for my usual walks, some trees are in full bloom, while others don’t even have visible buds.

I wonder if this is how it’s always been and I’ve just never noticed – but this year, the difference seems stark.

I was having a conversation with my friend, the tree in front of her yard had not started blooming. The trees just a block away are in full bloom.

I planted some seedlings for the first time indoors a week ago. My normal process has been to wait until I felt like it when it was warm enough to do it  and plant outdoors and hope for the best – but this year I felt motivated to get the plants started earlier. I diligently put the seeds in, put some dirt on them, and watered.

The process to watch has been nothing short of incredible.

By Wednesday, the cucumbers started poking out of the earth. But, I planted in four pots, and only three emerged in the first days. I finally see the fourth pot starting to sprout.

I also planted two other sets of things, a total of another seven pots, between the two. None of those have started showing themselves yet.

Do you know where I’m going with this?

I feel like this is a representation of life.

We are all blooming at different paces. It makes no sense for my cucumber to run the same race and my watermelon plants. Their races and growth are different.

Similarly, it makes no sense for me to run the race that my friends are running. It’s not a competition. Our growth and paths are so very different and we all have our own parts to play.

As with the stark difference of the trees this year, ‘for everything, there is a season under the sun’ and, if you feel like your season is being slow, just wait a little longer, and trust that it will happen in the right time, if it is to happen.

Dear Heavenly Father, I’m so grateful for your love and care for us. I love that there are lessons every where we look when our hearts are tuned to you. Would you please continue to speak to my heart in these simple ways so that I can see your love in everything?
