Blessings in Obedience

As I pondered what to write about, this title came to mind. It sounded vaguely familiar, so I went back and realized that I’d written with a similar title at the beginning of the year ‘Blessings of Obedience’.

I wish I knew the specific thing that I needed to be obedient on that day – but I honestly don’t recall.

But today’s title has come to me because as I look back over the last few years, there are days when I feel prompted to do something that I don’t particularly want to do. (Please tell me it’s not just me)..

On those days when I push past my own desires and I’m obedient, I see how God’s hand moves. Sometimes it’s in a small way, and other times it’s in a more large and more obvious way. So much so that next to Isaiah 1:19a ‘If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land’ in my Bible, there’s a handwritten note of the reminder with a date. That day, my obedience was rewarded with one of the sweetest fruit I’d ever had. That was probably the first time that verse came to mind so clearly.

Friends, what is God asking you to be obedient about? I can tell you first hand that it’s not always easy, but God has already made a way for you.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that there is blessings in obedience, even when it’s hard. Help me to do the things that you’ve asked of me, even when it may be difficult. Help me to always remember there’s a blessing in obedience, even if I don’t see it right away.

Actual photo with the words because I wanted to be reminded of the message.
