Be Still and Know…

by | Nov 4, 2018 | Faith Blog

I’ve been praying on what to share for a few days. This is not unusual – if by Thursday I don’t have a topic, I pray a little harder. Before I used to get worried when I didn’t, now I’m trusting that God will give me just the right topic that that one person needs to hear.

I like to have control of my life. Which independent woman do you know that doesn’t? But God has other plans for my life. He wants to be in total control of everything. While you (and I) might think that’s a great place to be – its a bit (or a lot) uncomfortable for me. I’m used to thinking I have it all under control.

Until God steps in and says something entirely different.

I’m used to coming and going as I please and doing what I want. I went to God with a specific request – I know mine, what’s yours? And instead of answering it out right, He says to my heart ‘be still and know that I’m God’.

Since then, He has used the last two and half years to transform my life. He’s taken a non author, non speaker, private person and made me a published author, speaker and one who shares willingly things that were once held very private.

When we cry out to God to intervene in a situation, He may not answer right away or in the way you expect. Instead, He will come alongside you and transform you from the inside out. He might say to you ‘my grace is sufficient for you’. He might say to you, ‘I know it’s hard, but just hang on to me a little tighter, and we’ll get through this together’. He might say to you, ‘this is how you will see my everlasting love for you – through these hard situations’.

What difficult situation are you facing this morning?

God is reminding me ‘Be still and know that I’m God’. What is He telling you?

Dear Heavenly Father, you know the message we each need to hear that will settle our hearts as we learn to trust you. I pray that for each person who is going through a difficult season or a difficult decision right now that you will show them your unfailing love and how you have been there all along. We thank you for your everlasting love.
