Asking God to Lead

I’ve been in a season of reflecting and being reminded of how this journey started.

For me, it didn’t start at baptism 25 years ago. It started in February 2016, a few days after I had moved into my new home. As I sat in my new home, I wrote down a note in the notes section of my phone – which I have since realized wasn’t just a note, but a prayer.

I had presented the desires of my heart, but instead of telling God how He should do things, I asked Him to lead.

Over the years, I’ve gone back to that note often. I’ve even recently printed it out and put it in a place that I see often.

Have you ever been on a roller coaster?

I can tell you that I am not a fan of roller coasters. At all. Not even a little bit.

But, the last few years have been nothing but a roller coaster, in the best possible ways.

I can tell you that I’ve begged the Driver to stop and let me off. He hasn’t.

And, even being on this wild ride, I can look back and say I wouldn’t change a thing.

The ride has been beyond my wildest dreams. I have felt God’s presence with me, holding my hand and whispering ‘it’s gonna be ok’.

As I listened to a sermon that I only listened to because the title caught my eye. The pastor said this ‘He permeates you when you ask Him to’.

Whew!!!!

This has been so true. When you ask Him to lead, He permeates EVERYTHING!

I thought I was asking for Him to lead in one area, and I believe He chuckled and said ‘Now, we can do this thing’.

I am a living testimony of what God can do when you choose to trust Him.

The last few years have been beyond my wildest dreams. To be honest, none of the things I have accomplish were in my five or ten year plan.

But God!

And, I won’t pretend there aren’t hard things mixed into the goodness too. There are…

But, I can sit and still be filled with God’s peace and love because Romans 8:28 reminds me that ‘and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose’.

Friends, will you ask God to lead all areas of your life, and then follow in faith and obedience?

Dear Heavenly Father, your goodness is truly running after me. I’m so grateful for your love and how you’ve chosen to show me your loving care. There are so many promises from your Word that I can cling to, and, I choose to allow you to continue to lead in my life.

Ps. Have you heard? I’ve written a new book: Walking in Love: Learning to Love Better Each Day. Keep reading to learn more.
