When I can’t be out and about, I watch YouTube. I’ve finally discovered how to use my smart tv after many years of owning it (please don’t ask after how many years)…
Yesterday as I was home due to the impending bad weather, I turned on YouTube. I’m not a big tv show watcher, nor do I typically binge on anything – but lately, I’ve been binging on the beautiful island of Jamaica. All different aspects that I didn’t even know existed, and marveling at the beauty I missed growing up there.
As one video rolled into the next, it moved on to homes. One of them was a townhouse unit that was being sold for $1.5 million US… yes, you read that correctly. It was beautiful. Located in the main town, so it didn’t have any land to go with it – just a beautifully built town house. Then, the next home video was less expensive, a little land, and close to the beach. Some thing I love the idea of.
As I kept watching, I noticed my attitude started changing. ‘What would it be like to own that?’ And all of a sudden, my usually contented nature started longing for something more.
My friend had sent out her thought of the day in the morning and it stated ‘Never let the things you want make you forget the things you have.’
Don’t get me wrong, I believe in dreaming and creating goals and plans to get where you want, but while you are working towards your goals ‘do not let the things you want make you forget the things you have’.
This is certainly how discontent creeps into our lives.
Dear Heavenly Father, help me be content. Help me to stop and appreciate all the blessings you have bestowed upon me and to be grateful. Help me not to get caught up in working so hard for future attainment that I forget to enjoy the current moments and my current blessings.
