A Timely Interaction

I had the privilege of attending a business conference this past week. As I was sitting in the airport lounge awaiting my flight home and meditating deeply on the last presenter and what he had shared, I noticed a very beautiful woman who was one of the staff in the lounge.

While I was processing all the thoughts that were coming into mind regarding the session, she was busy clearing up the tables. As I was texting a few of my close friends, asking them the specific question that had come to mind based on the session and processing with my AI, she remained close by.

I had noticed her name on her name tag and kept addressing her by name. A few moments later, she came over to talk to me. She said she didn’t know why, but the Spirit was telling her she needed to talk to me. I did not know why either but I asked if she needed me to pray for her. Even in that she wasn’t sure, but I still went ahead and prayed.

When I was done, I explained to her that I was a Financial Advisor and if there were any financially related questions that I could answer for her. That’s when the conversation really happened. She explained what she was struggling with and I chuckled and told her this is why she had to talk to me.

This week I quietly celebrated a milestone of being on the independent side for seven years in the financial services industry (over 25 years total). One of the emerging themes of the clients I serve are women who are over giving to their own financial detriment. I help them to recognize the potential pitfalls and teach them measured ways of giving to take care of others, but also to ensure they’re taking care of themselves in the process.

This was exactly what this woman needed to hear.

The irony of the timing of her choosing to talk to me was such that while it was not specific to this topic, this was the question that I had sent out to a few of my close friends, and they had all come back with a resounding yes.

She and I spoke for a few minutes and then it was time to walk to my gate and she explained that she was leaving at that moment too.

As I think back on the interaction, I’m in amazement at how the timing worked out for God to use each of us to answer the questions that each of us were asking.

One of the things I have learned over the years is that even if someone does not act right away, they will always hear my voice in the back of their head, which will ultimately prompt them to do the thing that they need to do to care for themselves too.

Friends, I don’t know what area of life you are struggling with, but ask God to bring you the right person to be able to help and guide and be open to it as it may be a five minute interaction in the most unexpected place.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you are so intimately aware of our questions and our struggles, and you choose to bring people in our path that will answer our questions. Help us to recognize the people you have sent to help us and for us to help. Help us to be aware of the needs of others as well, and to be mindful of our needs too.
