A milestone that only God could see

I woke up to a reminder from Facebook that exactly a year ago I was setting up my office.

I had planned to wait, but got the sense that I should do it – so I did. I signed the agreement on the exact date that I had closed on my home, four years prior. It was meant to be!

Fast forward less than two weeks later, and the global pandemic became the only thing spoken of in the news and the world shut down, including schools.

At first I was annoyed, why would I have been allowed to take an office space, only to not be in it for 3 or 4 months, while still having to pay the rent? It just did not make sense at the time.

But alas, a few months when places started reopening, and I decided to brave it and go to the office as I desperately needed a break from working from home and being home, it made total sense. Had I not signed when I did, I might have been too fearful of the ‘what if’s’ to do it another time. Whenever I go there, I have a sense of peace and joy, knowing that I have that option.

Is there something in your life that just doesn’t quite seem to make sense? I’ve got a few of those too. But I can also trust that my Heavenly Father knows best, and especially when I am seeking His guidance, I am assured that He will guide my steps.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the ways that you do things, even when it does not make sense to us. There are times that we may not understand how you are working things out for our good, but you have promised to do just that, for those who love you and are called according to your purpose. Help us to trust that promise.
