I love mangoes!
Wait.. did I mention that I absolutely love mangoes?
I was in Jamaica a month ago. It was the peak of mango season. The fruit was plentiful. Every tree was laden with ripe mangoes, and even mangoes lay fallen under the trees everywhere I went.
Due to family reasons, I had to go back a month later. I was excited at the prospect of seeing the trees once again laden with mangoes, and being able to eat mangoes, for before breakfast snack, before lunch snack, and after dinner snack.
As soon as I was driving home from the airport, I realized the difference. There were far less mangoes on the trees, and especially ripe mangoes. Significantly less. I still was able to purchase some and enjoy, but it got me thinking…
Sometimes we are in a season of bounty, and we can’t seem to think it will ever come to an end.
Conversely, sometimes we are in a season where we don’t seem to have everything we want, and we don’t think it will end.
Had I gone a month or two later, I’m sure there would be even less mangoes. Mango season in Jamaica is around the same time every year, and then become scarce after that.
Are you in a season of feeling like you don’t have all you need or want? I want to reassure you. Hold on just a little bit longer. The seasons do change. We are reminded in the Bible that everything has a season.
I pray your season of bounty comes soon.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that seasons come and go. We would not appreciate the season of bounty if we had it all the time, and we might not be reminded that we need to rely on you for our provision. And Lord, if we are in a season of bounty right now, we thank you and ask that you provide for those who are without.
