Cast your cares on Him

Today’s share was already shared on Jul 6th, so I apologize if you’ve already read it. However, I’ll share with you the rationale why I’m choosing to re share this one today.

Today’s bible app verse of the day was 1 Peter 5:7 NIV “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. ”  When I opened my Facebook page an hour later , it showed me a memory from a year ago, where I was challenged by my friend to post a scripture each day. If you know me, I don’t do challenges of any kind – but saw fit to do that one, and I chose this very same passage to start. Two reminders, given exactly 365 days apart.

So, today, I’m sharing the below, because I think someone (including me) needs this reminder.

“I really debated whether to post today.  I’ve been feeling so so lately. I’m being reminded that I’m on a journey, and if I’m to chronicle my journey to help someone else – every day won’t be such a great day, and it’s ok to admit that.  Where we get into trouble is always trying to pretend everything is ok, when it’s not. I think of the movie with the little girl with the different emotions “Inside Out”. This movie particularly sticks out in my mind, because it rings true in the sense that matters.  The emotions are Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear, embodied in a little girl who has just moved from a different state.  She tries so hard to show how “Joyful” she was about the move, even when she wasn’t happy, and in the end it got her into a lot of emotional trouble. She finally stopped to analyze what she was going through and realized that it was at the point where she freely expressed her sadness that her parents were able to step in and help her, but that didn’t come until after much angst on her part.

Sometimes we need to stop and analyze what we are going through.  Are we really happy or are we just putting on the “face” for everyone else?  While we need to do that sometimes, we can’t always do that – it will cause an emotional breakdown.  While I’m no psychologist, I’ve learned a thing or two, especially over the last few years.

I’m reminded of the verse, “Cast your cares on Him, because He cares for you”.  Today, I don’t know what you are going through, but the one thing I do know is that God cares for you more than you can even imagine, but you need to trust Him that He can do all that he says.  Remember, He is our Heavenly Father, and He is the giver of good gifts.

Lord, today as I go through all these emotions, I ask that you calm my heart and refocus my thoughts on you. Help me to remember that I will not always have mountain top experiences, and sometimes you need to hide me in the valley or to put me beside the still, calm waters to protect me.”
